Matapaua Bay information
A sandy bay on the southern Kuaotunu Peninsula with wonderful coastal views and a community of under 20 family homes, making it virtually unspoilt. The access is from Opito bay over a steep metalled road with limited parking facilities once the beach is reached.
Sheltered and safe for swimming and snorkelling the beach has rocky headlands to explore, the southern one being the site of big game fisherman, Zane Grey’s weighing station many years ago.
Matapaua Bay is one of the great beaches to get away from crowds and enjoy natural surroundings.
