What better way to spend a sunny Easter Saturday than catching a few fish with friends and family and supporting a good cause.
The annual Matarangi Volunteer Rural Fire Force Easter Fishing competition was another huge success on Easter Saturday. A great turnout and some excellent weather ensured plenty of competition and the fish were certainly playing the game with only a few 100 grams separating the top places. The top snapper weighed in at just over 7kg and there was also a very nice 12kg kingfish among the myriad of fish caught.
The action was just as frenetic for the fish auctioning with an enthusiastic crowd bidding the prices up and raising a tidy sum to be put towards fire and rescue equipment. All in all it was a great day and should be a must do on the calendar for next year.
